You Can Stop Smoking - Believe It

It has often been said that if you can see a positive outcome for a situation and you are able to focus on that outcome, it is more likely to happen for you.

The same can be true when quitting smoking. You have to picture yourself as a non-smoker and think of all of the ways that not smoking will benefit your life and the lives of those around you.

A smoker will more than likely see themselves as smokers. It is a habit that defines them. It is something that they have been doing for several years and their cigarettes may be perceived as something that has been there for them and gotten them through tough times.

When you begin to see yourself as a non-smoker, you may think of ways in which your life will be better. For instance, you may see yourself as a healthier person. Someone who is vibrant and full of life may be the new image you have of yourself as a non-smoker. You could start walking more and doing other things that are good for your body to help reinforce this new image that you are creating for yourself.

Another thing that you can credit yourself with when you quit smoking is being wiser and perhaps a bit more sensible. You are no longer ruled by cravings and urges to smoke. You are in control of yourself when you don’t have to fulfill an urge or need to keep nicotine in your body.

Lastly, picture yourself as someone who is considerate of others. By smoking, you may have often inconvenienced others by making them be around second-hand smoke. Now you no longer have to be concerned with whether or not someone will mind if you smoke around him or her.

When you begin to see the person that you want to be and you truly focus on that image then you begin to see yourself in a new light, and the more you see yourself as a non-smoker, the more that you will become one.
